Dear Life Coaches
I’ve started a new blog called Dear Life Coaches.
The purpose of Dear Life Coaches is to bring life coaches together with those seeking life coaching but don’t know which life coach they want to work with.
What prompted me to set up this blog was noticing that some bloggers get asked for guidance but are not keen on the role of life coach. Other bloggers are life coaches who can help. So I put two and two together and decided to see if a ‘meeting place‘ like this would be of use.
How the blog works
- Anyone interested in seeking life coaching is invited to send an email with details on their life situation and what kind of help they want.
- The email will be posted as a blog post, and any life coach is welcome to offer advice on the approach they would take.
- The person can read all the advice given and decide if there is any life coach in particular they would like to work with.
- He or she can contact the life coach directly via the link in the comments section or in the sidebar to discuss a consultation or package.
What’s in it for you
- Bloggers: If you have a blog and are not a life coach, this is where you can direct your readers who may want personalised advice.
- Readers: If you’re not a blogger but know friends who are looking for some guidance in life, you could send them the link.
- Seekers: If you’re a reader who would like some professional advice, send an email and see if you can learn something from the responses and perhaps find a coach whom you can work with.
- Coaches: If you’re a life coach who can offer advice, the site offers you access to people seeking life coaching, and visibility for your own site. Stacey / Create A Balance holds the top spot in the sidebar at the moment!
What’s in it for me
- I got the idea in one of those “Aha!” moments and decided to act and set up the blog instead of sitting on an idea as I often do. If the site takes off, I will be gratified that I actually took action on something meaningful.
- As I’m not a life coach, I won’t be participating in the comments section to give advice. I will just be an administrator. My job is to filter out non-genuine seekers and non-genuine coaches (for example those who don’t have their own life coaching website).
- I’m also hoping to learn more about life from real-life questions by real-life people, and real-life advice from real-life coaches. Knowing what concerns people have can give me some ideas for topics here on Joyful Days.
Making the site work
Since a lot of people stand to benefit if the site takes off, I’m asking for your help in spreading the word. I would be grateful if you help by:
- Mentioning Dear Life Coaches in a blog post
- Putting the logo in your sidebar by copying the image and uploading it to your site, or using this link: “http://joyfuldays.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/dearlifecoaches.jpg”. Please remember to hyperlink the image to “http://dearlifecoaches.com/”!
- Sending a question to get the momentum going
- Subscribing to the feed so you will receive any questions posted
Feedback and questions
I’m very open to feedback and suggestions on the new blog. Please feel free to tell me:
- Why you think it will or will not work
- How to make it work
Thanks very much!

Wow, that’s great, Daphne! I’ve been preparing for that these days and have just recently added the life coaching tag to my own blog. That’s something I’m really planning to venture on. In my case though, I’d be focusing on Life Coaching thru spiritual inspiration. :-) I’ll help spread the word!

Daphne,
Wow that is news. Congrats on the new launch. I will be stumbling and twittering it to promote it. All the best from my side.

Awesome! It’s great to see this coming to fruition – and I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes! Very exciting! I’ll add the logo to my site!

Thanks Nadia. Setting up the blog is the easy part. Now to really make it happen with people wanting to use it and that’s the challenge!
May 1st, 2009 @ 12:44 am
Good luck, Daphne! I posted a link to your new blog on my Twitter page.

Hi Daphne,
This is what you were up to in past few weeks… :) Really great idea. A site which readers can get help of life coaches.
Congratulations! I’ve posted my wishes at there too.
Keep on going.

Daphne, this is an absolutely brilliant idea! A collection of coaches and opportunities for advice. You’re a genius. Imagine how many people will find answers for themselves.
May 1st, 2009 @ 2:03 am
Daphne, I do have one question though. Is this available to anyone to sign up who calls themselves a “life coach”? There are training programs and certification for this — some people (with good intentions), call themselves life coaches, yet don’t have any training.
May 1st, 2009 @ 7:52 am
Thank you Vered! I hope the blog works out.
May 1st, 2009 @ 7:53 am
Hi Vikum,
I worked on this a few weeks ago then sat on it wondering whether to go ahead. Finally I decided that the worst that could happen is for the site to fade away. At least by trying we’ll see if there’s a demand for something like this. Thanks for your support!
May 1st, 2009 @ 7:54 am
Davina,
You’re too kind! I’m actually quite nervous because I don’t know if the site will take off or crash, depending on whether there is enough demand for something like this. Thanks for your support.
May 1st, 2009 @ 7:57 am
This was one of my main concerns, Davina, and where I’ll need guidance from coaches like yourself. At the moment I’ll allow comments from anyone who has a bona fide life coaching website, meaning I’ll check that the link is valid, and not just some do-gooder trying to change the world. Perhaps I could have a separate page with profiles of certified life coaches, and only profile those who are properly certified with a certain length of experience. What do you think?

Hi Daphne,
This is a great idea, and I wish you the best.

Hi Daphne,
Congratulations on your new blog. Hope it all goes well for you!
May 1st, 2009 @ 3:33 pm
Hi Daphne .. that’s really great .. and I like the way you’ve set it out .. bringing everyone together and letting us read the comments and ideas – we’ll all be able to learn so much.
I know there’s a great camaraderie within these groups – self support of each other .. I read it all the time and I am absolutely certain that you’re onto a really good idea .. helping everyone.
Thanks for having your “aha” moment! I look forward to more..
Lots of happy thoughts today …

This is a great idea. I love that people can go somewhere and receive advice from qualified people. That is one of the things that always “scared” me about the internet.
Although I don’t offer life coaching now, I once did, so not sure if I qualify. I think it’s a great idea, so I will check out the site over the weekend and promote it as best I can.
Good luck with it!
May 2nd, 2009 @ 7:47 am
Thanks Giovanna, for your support.
May 2nd, 2009 @ 7:47 am
Hi Salwa, thanks!
May 2nd, 2009 @ 7:48 am
Hi Hilary,
Thanks for your encouragement. I have no idea if the “aha” moment will amount to anything. I just thought I’d try and see if it works out. Glad to hear you’re having happy thoughts today!
May 2nd, 2009 @ 7:50 am
Hi Stacey, thanks for your support. I just hope that there are people out there who will want to use a site like that. Would appreciate your comments there, of course. If the site proves to be wildly successful then we may have to tighten the ‘qualifications’ along the way. Now I’m just trying to get more traffic to it!
May 2nd, 2009 @ 10:31 am
What a wonderful idea. We can all learn from it just by reading the questions and answers. We might be having the same problem and get our answer from someone else. Thank you. It is going on our blog list right now.

Your site has gained a lot of readers and coaches in a few days time, Daphne. Carry on! :-)
May 2nd, 2009 @ 3:44 pm
Dan and Deanna,
Thanks so much for your support by putting the site on your blog list. I really do hope it takes off – all we need now are readers with questions!
May 2nd, 2009 @ 3:45 pm
Thanks for the cheerleading, Jocelyn!

Daphne, choosing to help otehrs with genuine love and support is a meaningful gesture that spreads positive vibrations in all directions. May the initiative continue to inspire and assist self-directed seekers.

A great idea! Hope lots of people stop by.

We’ll certainly recommend your new life coaching site to our readers who ask for personalized assistance. ;-)
Great idea.
May 4th, 2009 @ 9:47 am
Hi Marc and Angel, thanks for your support. I hope this is a ‘great idea’ that works!
May 5th, 2009 @ 2:18 am
I like how you’re connecting the dots and paving a path for folks.
It seems like a good idea that needed to be unleashed.
Do you have 3 successful sites you model from?
May 5th, 2009 @ 10:28 am
JD, thanks for your encouraging words. I have to confess that I didn’t model this from any sites – it was an out of the box idea that I just wanted to try out. After I started it, a reader pointed me to one other site that did something similar, and I guess I need to find more such sites and see how they make it work. If you have any ideas I’m all ears and willing to learn!
May 6th, 2009 @ 8:18 pm
Sounds like a fantastic idea. I’m very happy that you decided to take action. It seems like the first step is often the most difficult.
Best of luck!
-Dustin

Hi Dustin,
Thanks for your encouragement. Setting up the blog was relatively easy… the hard work is marketing it, and I’m not doing enough of that at the moment!
