Free eBook of Personal Creeds
A personal creed is a statement of who we are and how we live. In a recent post How to Write a Personal Creed, I invited all readers to write theirs and received many inspiring examples.
After posting those examples, I continued to receive comments from bloggers who wrote their personal creeds. This was clearly something that people felt worth doing!
I’ve compiled the beautiful, poetic creeds into an eBook so the creeds can live on and inspire others.
All are welcome to download the free eBook and make it available on your sites.
About the Creeds eBook
I included only the ‘full-fledged’ creeds, including some that were not in the earlier post of inspiring examples because I learnt about them only later. All pages are linked back to the authors’ sites so you can visit and get to know these inspiring people better.
An image accompanies each creed. I hope the authors pardon this liberty I took in choosing pictures that I felt captured the essence of your creeds.
There is no contents page or any of the other finer things a book should have – just a cover page and straight on to the beautiful creeds. I would say smugly that I wanted to focus on the content but the truth is I spent ages formatting each page and didn’t want to spend even more time on pages I didn’t really need. :)
Thank you to Contributors
Here are the bloggers whose awesome creeds are included in the eBook. Ladies first, in old-fashioned chivalry, except for Shanel’s which I thought was a perfect way to end the collection with a bang and a smile!

- Stacey @ Create A Balance
- Jocelyn @ I Take Off The Mask
- Tess @ The Bold Life
- Sherri @ Serene Journey
- Evelyn @ Attraction Mind Map
- Jenny @ Heal Pain Naturally
- Hilda @ Living Out Loud
- Daphne @ Joyful Days (that’s me!)
- Sunny @ Seeking Mind
- Vikum @ Thinking Park

How to offer the eBook on your site
All you savvy bloggers can skip this section since you probably know a better way to do this than me :) Here are simple instructions for those who want them:
2. Upload it to your server via FTP
4. Upload it to your server via FTP
5. Add the cover image to your post or sidebar
6. Hyperlink the image and/or your text to the URL of the PDF file
(You can link to your own server URL or use mine: http://joyfuldays.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/CreedsBook.pdf)
7. Mission accomplished. Pat yourself on the back!
How to write your own eBook
You can create a basic eBook by going to the ‘Print’ option in your document. There’s usually a ‘Save as PDF’ option in the printer set-up page. However the hyperlinks don’t work if you do it this way. To retain the hyperlinks in your PDF file, this is what worked for me:
1. Create your draft in a Word document
2. Download Open Office
3. Open your Word file in Open Office
4. Check and tweak the formatting
5. Click on the PDF icon in the toolbar
That’s it!
Enjoy reading!
These creeds are very personal statements of flesh-and-blood people living their creeds even as you read. I hope you find them as inspiring as I did. Download the free eBook here.

Thanks Daphne for putting in the time and effort to compile all the creeds into a book for keeps. You may want to correct the link stated in your post under “How to offer the eBook on your site” to your server url. You miss typing out the complete url link.
Have a great weekend,
Evelyn

Hi Daphne, what an excellent idea, just remember to fix that url, that should probably end with .pdf

Hi Daphne,
Awesome work putting this all together. So many great examples of personal creeds, what a resource you’ve created. And to everyone to participated – thanks for sharing a personal part of you.

Daphne,
Very cool! Thanks for the instructions on how to create an e-book.

This is a beautiful ebook and I’m honored to have my personal creed published in it. This project definitely has “pay it forward” energy. When I posted my personal creed onto my blog, many people created and shared their personal creeds in the comments section of my post. Thanks for spreading the joy.

Daphne,

@ Jocelyn,
Thank you for contributing your creed, and for doing so early on to help create the momentum for others to do the same!
@ Evelyn,
Thanks for the tip on the URL. I got most of the links wrong in this post… I’m amazed that I got the eBook done at all given my level of IT savvy! Links have been corrected I hope. Thanks for being a pal!
@ Miguel,
You’re right – out of habit I just typed “.jpg” to all the links! Corrected now, thanks very much for pointing this out.
@ Lance,
This was really awesome. I’m so amazed and grateful that people actually found this worth doing.
@ Roger,
You should try creating an eBook someday – it’s quite an experience!
@ Stacey,
Wow it’s wonderful that many of your readers decided to write their own creeds too. Yours was truly inspiring and I’m sure that had a lot to do with it. Love the way you pointed out that this had pay-it-forward energy. That’s a lovely thought and makes me feel great!
@ Sunny,
Thanks for contributing your powerful creed, and for the Stumble!
@ Nadia,
It was my pleasure and the least I could do for my wonderful readers who contributed their creeds!

Hi Daphne! What a great idea! Thank for including me in your inspiring ebook. ; )

Hi Daphne. This is great! I think you did a great job choosing the photographs. There is a gentleness about this book that I really enjoy. Would be good to print out and keep by your bedside to read before sleep or to start the day with. :-)
One additional point about making an ebook (which is literally just a pdf), is that a person can make a pdf directly from the Word document. This avoids the extra step of having to convert to Open Office and tweek the formatting. In your case you had to use Open Office to keep the hyperlinks intact. But if a person is making a book and they are typing the www as part of the original link, a Word Document will naturally keep the hyperlink intact.

@ Shanel,
Thanks for your very lively creed that makes me smile every time, even after reading it so often!
@ Davina,
You were actually the person I was going to contact if I couldn’t get this PDF sorted out on my own, since I knew you’d done this before. Thanks for the tip – keeping the www. preface would have been the easier option I guess. It’s good to know both options are available, thanks!
@ Giovanna,
Glad you downloaded and read the Ebook, and I’m happy you like it!
@ Hilda,
It was a pleasure to include your creed. Thank you for allowing me to add that!
@ Sterling,
The contributors all have awesome blogs of their own. Happy surfing and visiting!
