7 Kreativ Posts on the Dance of Life

I’ve been given the Kreativ Blogger Award by Nathalie Lussier of Billionaire Woman. Thanks Nathalie! The award requires me to list 7 things I love and pass the award on to 7 bloggers that I like.

I’ll highlight 7 blog posts I love, and confer the Kreativ Blogger Award on the writers of these creative posts! All the posts are about life lessons from dancing.

1. Dance Around the World

Ian presents a video called “Where the hell is Matt?” which shows this guy literally dancing round the world and getting people of all nationalities to join him with their own dances. A great statement about the unity of humanity.

I’m planning to present videos, songs, articles, poems, writing etc.. Basically anything that lifts my spirits and contributes in some way to peace and compassion on the planet.

- Ian Peatey, Quantum Learning

2. An Amazing Story of Strength and Perseverance

Giovanna has a mission to urge people to take imperfect action to change their lives, and inspires her readers with real life stories. This video of a ballet performed literally without an arm and a leg gave me goosebumps.

Ma Li and Zhai Xiaowei was the first time a handicapped couple ever entered the CCTV national dance competition and they won the hearts of millions. With strength and perseverance we can do anything!

- Giovanna Garcia, Imperfect Action

3. Your Sacred Dance

Mare’s intelligent posts teach me so much, and this post is my favourite of all. She introduces the concept of a survival dance and a sacred dance, a concept so powerful that I printed it out to paste in my journal.

The survival dance has to come first, because it provides the means of supporting yourself physically and economically. For most people, this means a paid job. Once you’ve established a strong foundation for yourself through your survival dance, then you can start looking for clues as to what your sacred dance is : the work you were born to do.

- Marelisa, Abundance Blog

4. What Susan Boyle Can Teach Us

Barbara’s post on the beauty and power of Susan’s voice and message made me feel like crying each time I watched the video. This is more about a song than a dance, though there is a little wiggle in the video that could loosely qualify as dancing.

The Susan Boyle story and video pulls at my heart strings in such a way, I can’t stop watching her performance. It drives the message home that first impressions are often deceiving.

- Barbara Swafford, Blogging Without A Blog

5. Dance, Dance and Oh Yes… Dance!

Nadia exudes happiness at her blog, and you can practically feel her love for dancing and life come waltzing out of this post. Such joy is usually born out of sorrow, and this is a woman who has experienced and embraces both.

Life is so short. What you have today, you may not have tomorrow. Of course, you may always have more tomorrow than you have today, too. Life is so fluid and so beautiful. Rigidity is created by man and is not a healthy way to live.

- Nadia, Happy Lotus

6. Life is Too Short to Watch Other People Dance

Hayden writes from her heart about how our words to others do make a difference even if we don’t realise it at the time. She also celebrates the karma of how our own words sometimes boomerang back to help us when we need it most.

Not only is life too short to watch other people dance, when it comes to life there are no “sidelines”. You’re living, right now. You’re affecting the world, whether you want to or not. So what are you creating?

- Hayden, Through the Illusion

7. Christian the Lion

Albert posts a video which is probably the closest you’re ever going to see of a lion dancing with its human friends. This post really restores my faith in creation, reminding me that different species can learn to get along.

I haven’t had anything move me like this for a very long time! I know many will have seen this video, but it’s really worth sharing again.

- Albert, Urban Monk

Congratulations to Ian, Giovanna, Marelisa, Barbara, Nadia, Hayden, and Albert!

You have all been award the Kreative Blogger Award! Feel free to copy the image from this post to use on your blog.

If you wish, you can take part in this meme and confer the award on 7 other bloggers you like, in a post which lists 7 things you love.

If you don’t wish, that’s fine too! I know you’re all popular bloggers who have probably been tagged lots of times already.

Thank you also to Giovanna, Vikum and Sunny

I’m also using this post to fulfil three other tags I’ve been privileged to receive from:

1. Giovanna at Imperfect Action

2. Vikum of Thinking Park

3. Sunny of Seeking Mind

Hi Daphne: Thank you so much for the award. I have to confess that when I wrote the post “Creating In the Dark – Your Sacred Dance” I was going to send it to another blogger to see if he wanted to publish it as a guest post. But then when I finished writing it I just couldn’t part with it :-)

    Hi Nadia,

I’m so glad I could make your day a little brighter with the award. You deserve it just for the name “Happy Lotus”! Thanks for your kind words too. One of the nice things about blogging in the personal development niche is that people are so much more positive than the general population out there!

    Hi Hilary,

Glad you like the posts. The videos were all so touching, and the posts so well-written. These are some of the bloggers I really admire, and I’m happy to introduce their blogs!

So good to have good days with your Mum. The days can be up or down, or like John Denver sings “Some days are diamond, some days are stone…” and that just how life is. Thanks for dropping by with such a lively comment!

    Hi Marelisa,

You remind me of what Stephen King says, that our writings become our babies, and in your case you just couldn’t give yours up! The post on the sacred dance was incredibly helpful for me, and I can see why you loved it so much. It’s truly meaningful. I loved it.

    Hi Lance,

What makes me overjoyed with your comment is not so much what your said, though your words mean as much as they always have. I’m just SO HAPPY that you’re back in the blogosphere! This sounds corny though it’s true – I’ve missed your reassuring presence and I’m sure others have too. Welcome back to blogland, welcome back to Joyful Days, welcome back!

    Congrats at your award!

I like the dance theme that stands out. Dance is an interesting metaphor for life … I think your mindset changes a lot when you view life as a dance.

  28. Daphne
    April 23rd, 2009 @ 7:56 am

    Hi JD,

Thanks, and yes life feels so much more relaxed and fun when viewed as a dance. At the same time, it can be a dance of high precision, skill and exquisite beauty. Thanks for building up the metaphor!

I’m feeling somewhat guilty now that I remember forgetting to respond with a post after getting tagged previously. Then again, since there is no time limit, I can write it at a later date.

You’ve compiled a great collection of posts. Excellent choices! My kids watched both the Susan Boyle and Where the Hell is Matt’s videos over and over and over again, since the first time they viewed them.

  31. Arswino

Congratulations and this post shows exactly why you got the award! Choosing the theme of dance was excellent and I can’t wait to visit the sites you’ve mentioned. The only one I’ve seen is Ian Peatey’s video, Where the hell is Matt, and I liked it very much. I look forward to others! You go girl:~)

I’ve been feeling guilty for some time about not responding to tags, so I decided to reply to all of them with this post. You’re right that there’s no time limit so maybe you can wait or accumulate a few tags before posting ;)
